Photograph Exhibition SO WELL-SUITED
Dino Sato is now participating with his animations and illustrations, in a Photograph Exhibition "SO WELL-SUITED", which is held in Athens from November 23rd, 2013 to February 28th, 2014, as one of those programs celebrating the 150th birthday of a great Greek poet C.P. Cavafy. In this exhibition, twenty-three artists from around the world are showing various kinds of art works inspired by Cavafy's poetry.

Also, another exhibition related to Cavafy, "C.P. CAVAFY IN TOKYO" will be held at "café-bar BOO!" in Athens, from December 7th to 17th, 2013. This exhibition will present animation works made by twenty-one Japanese students studying "motion image" under Dino Sato at Mushashino Art University. Each student chose one poetry by Cavafy, and expressed it in animation.

→Oct. 11, 2013　A compilation DVD "ASIFA-JAPAN Vol.3" completed!
ASIFA-JAPAN Vol.3
We are pleased to announce that a DVD compilation of our members' animation shorts "ASIFA-JAPAN Vol.3" is now available as an exchange program for International Animation Day (IAD).
Following two previous inspiring editions "ASIFA-JAPAN Vol.1" (2005) and "ASIFA-JAPAN Vol.2" (2009), the third DVD is composed of 9 works made by our talented animation filmmakers and producers: Mirai MIZUE, Naoyuki TSUJI, Arisa WAKAMI, Kotaro SATO, Katsuo TAKAHASHI, Kariko TAKAHASHI, Kazuma MORINO, Hiroshi ONISHI, Takashi FUKUMOTO, Koichi YAMAGISHI and Yoriko MIZUSHIRI. The DVD was edited by Kohei OTSUKA, and the DVD jacket was designed by Hiroyuki OKUI, both voluntarily.



"ASIFA-JAPAN Vol.3" will be shown at the "International Animation Day 2013 in TOKYO", which will be held at the Museum Hall of Musashino Art University, on November 4th, at 11:00 -.

→Oct. 8, 2013　International Animation Day (IAD) 2013 – Coming Soon!
IAD2013
On October 28th, 1892, a French inventor Emile Reynaud (1844 – 1918) made the first public performance of animation at the Grevin Museum in Paris, using his own invention "optical theater." Since 2002, ASIFA and its National Groups have been celebrating this historical day as"International Animation Day (IAD),"intending to promote and develop animation art all over the world simultaneously. Every year, about 40 countries participate in this celebration.
"IAD 2013 in Japan" will be held in three cities – Kyoto, Tokyo and Hiroshima – to show inspiring animation films of Japan and abroad.



→ "IAD 2013 in Tokyo" will be held on November 4th, at 11:00 ~ 17:00, at Musashino Art University Museum Hall.

→ "IAD 2013 in Kyoto" will be held on October 23rd, at 17:00 ~ 19:30, at the Eizo Hall of “Art and Culture Information Center”, Kyoto University of Art and Design.

→ "IAD 2013 in Hiroshima" will be held during October - November, at the Hiroshima City Cinematographic and Audio-Visual Library (Eizo Bunka Library) as well as at eight public facilities in each of the eight wards in Hiroshima --- six community centers (kominkan), one children’s hall (jidokan) and one elementary school.

Joshibi University Alumnae Association, is being held till June 9th!
An Exhibition The World of Animation,
“The World of Animation” is taking place at Joshibi Art Museum, Sagamihara Campus, from April 6 (Sat.) through June 9 (Sun.) . The exhibition is planned and organized by Joshibi University of Art and Design Alumnae Association, which Sayoko Kinoshita serves as the president. “Joshibi University of Art and Design was established in 1900, and its alumni have been very active in Japanese animation industry from the beginning of Japanese TV series animation, and have also been serving a major role to lead the animation world not only in Japan but in the international scenes as well. In addition, Joshibi University of Art and Design has continued to produce many promising young artists. We have prepared an exhibition and screening programs to present a wide view of animation field, from the history of Japanese animation to today's animation in the world. I would be most pleased if you could enjoy our exhibition together with your friends, family and colleagues.” (Sayoko Kinoshita)
☆Various animation works are shown on exhibition display, and there will also be special showings on a large screen. On May 22nd, at 15:00, there will be a talk show about “Renzo Kinoshita Prize” by Toshio Saeki (artist), Yoriko Mizushiri (animation filmmaker, the laureate of Renzo Kinoshita Prize of HIROSHIMA 2012), and Sayoko Kinoshita.

A collaborative exhibition by Keiichi Tanaami and CW-X (Wacoal's sportswear brand), supporting KYOTO MARATHON 2013, will be held at Spiral Garden, Tokyo.
Psychedelic sportswear specially designed by Tanaami, as well as his latest animation short made for Kyoto Marathon 2013 will be shown.
