Keiichi TANAAMI
Professor, Kyoto University of Art and Design
Born in Tokyo in 1936. After graduating from Musashino Art University, commenced creative activities after a period at Hakuhodo advertising agency. Has worked at the Kyoto University of Art and Design since 1991. In parallel with various creative activities including illustrations and editorial design, also involved in the production of films and animations, which have been shown at film festivals all over the world including Oberhausen and Edinburgh. One of the International Selection Committee members at the 6th Hiroshima Animation Festival. Activities in recent years include 'DAYTRIPPER' (Art&Public, Geneva, Switzerland, 2008), 'SPIRAL' (GalerieGebr. Lehman, Berlin and Dresden, Germany, 2008), judge and special program screening at the Stuttgart Trickfilm International Film Festival, Germany (2009), 'Wandering in the Chaos−the Dreamland of Keiichi Tanaami' (The OCT Art & Design Gallery, Shennan, China, 2010), 'Dividing Bridge' (NANZUKA UNDERGROUND SHIROKANE, Tokyo, Japan, 2011). Publications include 'TANAAMISM! Keiichi Tanaami, Magician of Film 1975−2002' (a DVD of animations) in 2002, 'TANAAMISM!2 Keiichi Tanaami, Visual Epicureanism 1971−2002' in 2003, and 'A PORTRAIT OF KEIICHI TANAAMI 14 FILMS 1975−2009' (CaRTebLaNChe, France) in 2010. These DVDs also feature joint works with the late Nobuhiro Aihara.
